New to ASMR? Try These 5 Classic Videos [Watch]

Just stumbled onto ASMR?  Maybe you like it, or maybe you’re just a little . . . curious.  But where do you start?  The sheer amount of content out there is overwhelming.  Which video do you watch first?!

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.  We put together a list of 5 classic ASMR videos for you to start tingling.

The Breakthrough Video Behind the “Face” of ASMR

If we’re talking about ASMR, we have to talk about this one by Gentle Whispering ASMR.  She’s been featured on what seems like every major news outlet from CNBC all the way to the New Yorker.  Thrillist has even called her “the de facto public face of ASMR.”  There’s a reason she’s so visible: she’s good.  Her videos have earned her over 750 million views on YouTube.  She has hundreds of videos on her channel—but this video was her breakthrough moment.  Fairly, she wouldn’t be who she is today without it.  Seven years later, it is still the most popular video on her channel.

The “World’s Greatest Head Massage”

One word, 4 letters:  Baba.  The late Baba was a barber from Rajasthan, India who is world-renowned for giving the “world’s greatest head massage.”  His unique and energetic style has earned him the nickname of “Cosmic Baba”, which is pretty fair once you watch a few videos of him.  There’s something about his attention to detail, charisma, and uniqueness that just makes him fun to watch.  There’s a treasure trove of Baba videos out there for you to enjoy, but personally, this one by Nomad Barber is our favorite.  Sit back in Baba’s chair, and enjoy.

ASMR Darling’s “10 Triggers” Video

With 2.5 million subscribers, ASMR Darling is one of the most visible figures in the ASMR space—and this is probably her most “classic” video.  ASMR Darling’s “ASMR 10 Triggers to Help You Sleep ♥” has wracked in over 33 million views since it was posted in 2016.  For all the new folks out there, a “trigger” is some sort of stimuli that triggers an ASMR response.  To be honest, there’s nothing fancy about this one—but that’s what we love about it.  It’s simple unadulterated ASMR.  Sometimes, perfection isn’t achieved when there’s nothing left to add, but when there’s nothing left to take away.

P.S. if you liked that one, don’t worry, there’s more where that came from.  One year later, she recorded a follow-up video with twice the amount of triggers!

Gibi ASMR’s Take on the Cranial Nerve Exam

Ahh, the “cranial nerve exam” roleplay.  Fans of ASMR can tell you that the “cranial nerve exam” roleplay is a fan favorite.  ASMR content creators (or “ASMRtists” for the cool kids) love making this video simply because people love watching it.  I know I do.  Of the hundreds, if not thousands, of cranial nerve exam videos on YouTube, this one is the most-watched.  But let’s be clear, Gibi ASMR didn’t just get lazy and copy-paste a fan favorite.  She took a popular concept and made it better.  Her attention to detail is crazy.  Gibi puts more time into the receptionist character than most people put into their entire video, and it shows.  Anyway, we’ll stop raving about how good it is, and let you watch the video so you can see for yourself.

Get Ready for One of the Most-Watched ASMR Videos of All Time

This last one by ASMRMagic is long, clocking in at over 3 hours!  Despite its length, or maybe because of it, this video has received over 83 million views.  What makes this video shine are its visuals.  Even the thumbnail lets you know that this video isn’t quite like the rest.  Rain noises, jelly-filled toy dolphins, slime, a multi-colored sequin mannequin head—this video has it all.  It’s not the most bite-sized video in this list, but it sure is the most thorough.  Because this video is so long, we like leaving it on while we are doing something else, but that’s just us.
